Editorial: Changes In Progsheet

By John A. Wilcox

I'm writing this to play a bit of catch-up. The biggest change to Progsheet occurred back in 2020. In March of that year, I attended my final concert: a wonderful John Lodge show to be exact. Covid hit. In 2021, I caught it & almost died. I was later told I was 3 days away from being dead! Yikes! I spent a month in the hospital & a month in rehab to regain some of my leg strength back. I have never fully recovered. Back to concerts. My disabilities have really limited where I can go & what I can do. Concerts were the main victim. They had just stopped being fun. Not because of the music. The crowds. As I look back, it was at a Justin Hayward concert. I had a great seat. I was really looking forward to the show. However, a woman in the seat next to me (on my left) spent every second of the show looking at photos of dogs on her device. The light in my eye was hugely distracting and took me out of the show. Smaller venues with smaller crowds were filled ever more by folks on devices every moment of every show, as well as audiences' need to drink and pee and drink and pee. Up and down constantly during every show. As I said, it just stopped being fun. So I let go. No more concerts. I miss the music. That's all.

My disabilities have also slowed me down quite a bit. Mostly my hands. I have Dupuytren's Contracture in both of my hands and it makes typing quite painful. So, as I said, I have slowed down a bit out of necessity. But I have no plans to stop! Progsheet has ever more interviews, reviews & I still write pieces promoting concerts even though I cannot attend them. This little editorial is to let everyone know the state of things here. Still alive & kicking with no thoughts of stopping! I thank you all for being part of the journey!
